Kalevala
Lappish village in Borowice

Kalevala is the only Sámi village in the world located outside Finland. It is run by a married couple of enthusiasts who managed to perfectly recreate the atmosphere of Finnish culture. There are plenty of attractions waiting for guests here and the possibility of accommodation in previously unseen conditions, including: a year-round heated tent, a hanging tent, a Viking tent or a Moominhouse. The accommodations are equipped with bathing barrels and traditional Finnish saunas. Right next to it, there are huts with barbecues, around which reindeer and sled dogs run eagerly. Not going to Finland anytime soon? Kalevala, a Lappish village, is closer than you think!

Borowice – the heart of Karkonosze Lapland beats here!

Kalevala was created at the end of the world, i.e. in the last village under the mountains. The choice of the Karkonosze Mountains, and specifically Borowice, as the seat of a traditional Lappish village was not accidental. The local nature is very similar to that found in Scandinavia.

All structural elements of the tents and all kinds of buildings were made in Finland from original local wood. Interestingly, the creator of the tents for the popular series "Vikings" worked directly on their construction.

Make yourself comfortable in the Moomin House or hang above the ground in a tent!

An overnight stay in a Lappish village in Borowice is not like ordinary camping in the forest or by the lake. This is an entry into a truly Finnish world straight from ancient legends and more modern fairy tales by Tove Jansson. The village can accommodate 33 guests at any time of the year. The tents are equipped with comfortable futons, bedding, towels and bathrobes.

Each standard tent has a comfortable place for four people, the Wiking tent for 2 people, and the hanging tent for 1 to 4 people. In turn, in the Moomin House, in addition to a bedroom for two people, you will find a charming playroom for children. The characteristic blue Moomin House was personally made by Matti Kivijarvi from Finland. Anyone, regardless of age, who has always wanted to be part of the story about the Moomins, can spend the night there and indulge their childhood dreams, at least for a moment.

Relax in the SPA zone or take part in numerous attractions!

There is a SPA zone in the village, separate for women and men, where you can enjoy a traditional bali bath or a Finnish sauna. Guests have at their disposal a large tent for preparing and eating meals and a quite large barbecue. Meals can be eaten in a tent or outdoors. There are also numerous small houses in the village that serve various specific functions, e.g. Maitolaituri - a house with a milk can, or Niliaitta - a stand for pre-ordered meals. Guests also have free access to electricity and WiFi.

The undoubted attractions of this place are also animals - reindeer, imported directly from Finland, and friendly, gentle and caring huskies. One of the dogs is a gift from the Finnish Minister to vigilantly guard the entire village and the local Institute of Finnish Culture.

In winter, Santa Claus visits the village, which is worth taking into account when booking your stay. Other attractions organized on site include: Trips to the forests and mountains, toboggan rallies, Sami handicraft workshops, festivals and other cultural events and film screenings.
