What delights tourists with Mya Cascade?
The Karkonosze Mountains are not only mountains, but also water creating stunning cascades and waterfalls. The area around Myi Cascade is an extremely picturesque place. It is covered with a dense spruce forest, and the lack of trodden trails adds even more mystery and beauty to this place. The Myi Cascade was formed during the Alpine orogenic movements, i.e. during the last period of global orogenic folding. The final shape of the Mya cascade was determined by the Quaternary glaciation.
It is worth visiting the Mya Cascade just after the thaw or heavy rainfall, which additionally strengthens the water flow, making its noise heard from afar. The Mya Cascade is often called the younger sister of the Podgórna waterfall. Although the Myi Cascade is much smaller, it makes an amazing impression on tourists, just like the narrow Myi Valley itself.
The Myja stream hides its sources on the north-western slope of Smogornia at an altitude of 1,275 m above sea level. It is a right tributary of Podgórna, approximately 5 km long. In some places, the Mya Valley has the character of a rocky ravine, deeply cut into the ground. The stream flows over granite and its weathered surface, often over rocky rapids, creating numerous waterfalls and cascades, the largest of which is the Myi Cascade. The Myja stream creates an interesting valley, which is a special attraction, especially in its upper part. It is there that impressive rock pillars rise from the slopes - Szwedskie Skały, Słup and Zamczysko, which are up to 30 meters high.
Near the Myja Cascade, on the right bank of the Myja River, there are spruce and beech trees connected by trunks, which arouse great interest among tourists coming here. The road to Myi Cascade is no less attractive than the waterfall itself. There are also other smaller cascades and waterfalls along the way, and the path itself is narrow and densely covered with roots and stones.
The area is lushly covered with various types of vegetation, which gives this place an additional "wild character". In winter, the Myi Cascade freezes, creating an equally attractive icefall. The road to the cascade may then be icy, which should be taken into account when planning a winter walk.
