Marianna Orańska's Palace is located in Kamieniec Ząbkowicki. It is a small county town with 4,467 inhabitants. Its biggest tourist attraction is undoubtedly this neo-gothic building.
The namesake of the magnificent estate was a Dutch princess - Marianna's father was the king of the Netherlands, and her mother came from the Hohenzollern family. Marianna Orańska and her husband, Albrecht Pruski, commissioned the construction of the palace in 1838. Construction took 34 years and lasted until 1872. Marianna did not enjoy the palace too much, because already in 1845 she moved to the Netherlands.
Marianna Orańska Palace it was built for so long by a divorce, which was accompanied by a considerable scandal. As a result of the affair, Marianna lost her good name and had to leave Prussia, hence the relocation and stagnation in construction. However, the palace served her son, who inherited the property.
Despite a considerable moral scandal, Marianna was remembered as a very good property manager. She built the so-called road to Ząbkowice Śląskie, leading to the border with the Czech Republic, leading through Kamieniec Ząbkowicki. The newly designated route helped to revitalize the nearby villages economically, which contributed to, among other things, for the development of forest management in this area. Thanks to her, we still use the shelter on Śnieżnik.
Marianna Orańska Palace it is characterized by four 33-meter towers standing in each of its corners. The residence was built on a rectangular plan, with a large courtyard in the middle. It is estimated that the cost of the building was equal to three tons of gold, which today gives about PLN 180,000,000. The palace includes a picturesque park with 89 natural monuments. In its area there is also a mausoleum and several ruins, e.g. the ruins of a hunting lodge.
