Toy Museum - history
In Karpacz, we have a unique opportunity to visit one of the few in Poland Toy Museum. This unique exhibition is located in the former railway station building. How was it created? Over 20 years ago, Henryk Tomaszewski, a well-known dancer, mime, choreographer, theater director and founder of the Wrocław Pantomime Theatre, donated his collection of toys to the city Karpacz. It was 1994. And Tomaszewski began collecting this unique collection nearly thirty years earlier, in 1967. During his numerous trips around the world with successive performances, he was looking for dolls and toys for his rapidly growing collection. Thanks to this, we can admire old toys in the Toy Museum today. These are objects that children in Germany, Russia, Mexico, Japan and Australia played with.
Currently Karpacz Toy Museum is of great interest. About 80,000 tourists a year admire these wonderful exhibits.
Toy Museum - exhibits
Exhibition in Toy Museum in Karpacz includes a world-unique collection of dolls and toys from all continents. The set counts over 2.5 thousand exhibits. This impressive collection of dolls, spinning tops, various types of vehicles, blocks, houses and other objects that children play with has been displayed in special display cases. The background of each of them has been decorated with paintings, creating a fairy-tale scenery. These unique showcases were designed by Kazimierz Wiśniak – a famous Krakow scenographer. It seems that dolls, teddy bears and other stuffed animals are actually alive, acting out all sorts of genre scenes.
Corporate or family events?
The oldest exhibits from Henryk Tomaszewski's collection come from the 18th century - they are crib figurines. The latest are the famous toys of the 20th century, such as LEGO bricks. The collected toys were made of various materials. The greatest interest – and nostalgia! – they wake up with antique porcelain dolls and charming teddy bears. However, among the exhibits Karpacz Toy Museum there are not only items intended for play, but also collectible figures and real works of art at the same time.

- there is a parking lot in front of the building, you can easily find a free space there,
- from Tuesday to Friday it is possible to visit from 9:00 - 16:30,
- on Saturdays and Sundays, the Museum invites you from 10:00 - 17:30,
- the museum is closed on Mondays,
- admission: PLN 20 – normal ticket; PLN 10 – reduced ticket,
- children under 6 have free admission,
- family tickets are also available: a ticket for 2 adults + 2 children costs PLN 54; for 2 adults + 3 children PLN 63,
- with group entrances (10 people) the guardian has free admission,

An additional attraction for children and adults is the Railway Tradition Hall. The place of the exhibition - the former railway station - oblige! Thus, in the Museum we can find a 3-meter freight wagon, as well as miniature railways from the Museum of Industry and Railways in Silesia in Jaworzyna Śląska.
