This is an official meeting of the parents of the bride and groom before the wedding. Many couples organize such a meeting without even realizing that it is a traditional wedding custom. Orders take place right after the engagement. Their goal is to get to know the families and discuss all the details of the wedding and reception. This is also the time to determine the division of costs related to the organization of the ceremony and reception.
Brought out and redemption - wedding customs known for centuries
Wedding traditions in Poland – when this special day, long-awaited by lovers, finally comes, it is also time for another wedding customs. The first are brought out. This tradition refers to the times when the groom refused to get married. The future husband had to be taken out of the house by force. Currently, they are brought out rather symbolically. Bride's bridesmaids or other young women take the Groom out of the family home and hand them over to his future wife.
Then comes the time for redemption. This is another custom of a symbolic nature. The groom should "buy out" his future wife by giving money and sweets to the witness or alcohol. Redemptions they can also take the form of bargaining for the bride by the future husband and her family - usually with the help of bottles of vodka. When the payment is sufficient, the man is allowed to marry.
Blessing of parents - the most touching moment
The blessing of parents is one of the most touching, sublime moments on the wedding day. It is one of the oldest wedding customs cultivated in Poland. It is a symbol of children flying out of the family nest. What is the blessing? Parents address a few personal words to future spouses. It can also be a short formula, a poem or a longer speech, prepared especially for this special occasion.
